Barry AllanOne of the foremost Canadian experts in high-yield bond analysis and management, Barry Allan has more than a quarter century of investment experience and knowledge that spans all areas of fixed income.
Prior to founding Marret Asset Management, Barry spent six years with Altamira Management Ltd. where he managed a variety of mandates including the Altamira High Yield Bond Fund. He was also responsible for internal risk management, overseeing Altamira’s hedging activities. Previously, Barry had worked at Nesbitt Thomson for seven years and at the Bank of Montreal for another six.
A native of Prince George, BC, Barry earned his undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Arizona. He began his career trading various debt issues for the Bank of Montreal in the 1980s. Regarded as somewhat of a contrarian, Barry later moved on to trading derivatives at BMO Nesbitt Burns, often dealing with securities no one else had the expertise to cover.
Barry is the lead manager of Dynamic High Yield Bond Fund and co-manager of Dynamic Value Balanced Fund, Dynamic Global Value Balanced Fund and diversiYield™ Income Fund. As founder and chief investment officer of Marret Asset Management, Barry is supported by a team comprised of some of Canada’s leading fixed income analysts. His team – considered by many to be the number one firm for managing high-yield bonds in Canada – was recently honoured at the 2007 Canadian Lipper Awards where the Dynamic Value Balanced Fund took home the award for Canadian Balanced Fund of the Year. The team was also recognized at the 2005 Canadian Investment Awards where the Dynamic High Yield Bond Fund won the award for High Yield Bond Fund of the Year.
Robert B. DeckerRobert Decker is a Portfolio Manager responsible for the Equity team and products, including research, portfolio construction and trading. A founding partner, Bob is a member of Aurion Capital’s Asset Mix Committee.
Prior to co-founding Aurion Capital, Bob managed Canadian Equities for a major Canadian pension fund for six years. Prior to that, Bob spent a decade managing equities for large Canadian investment and insurance companies.
Bob holds an MBA from York University and a BA (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario. He is a CFA Charterholder. He is Chair of National Fundraising and a board member for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
Widely recognized as one of Canada’s most successful investment counsellors, Mr. Goodman has more than four decades of investment experience as a securities analyst, portfolio manager and senior executive. Mr. Goodman is the founder and benefactor of the Goodman Institute of Investment Management, a graduate school for investment management at Concordia University. He is also the Chancellor of Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Mr. Goodman has a Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1967. In 1997, he was awarded a Doctorate of Laws, honoris causa, by Concordia University.
Christine HoroyskiChristine Horoyski is responsible for Aurion Capital’s Nominal Bond products, including core, corporate and specialized portfolios, as well as a US Short Term Credit portfolio. As chair of the Asset Mix Committee, she is responsible for qualitative & quantitative strategies used to manage overall asset allocations among various asset classes and within various geographic exposures. Christine joined Aurion Capital in 2003.
Christine has over 16 years of industry experience, including 10 years at a major life insurance company where she held various positions culminating in Vice President of Fixed Income. In this role, she was responsible for all aspects of managing the fi xed income portfolios on an active, total return basis, including bond duration, curve exposure and analysis of corporate positions held within the portfolios. All portfolios were managed on an active basis. Christine was also a key member of the asset mix committee, providing input and analysis on all aspects of the fi xed income markets.
Christine holds a BA (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from University of Windsor. She is a CFA Charterholder and a qualifi ed Chartered Accountant.
Craig J. MacAdamCraig MacAdam is a Portfolio Manager with the Equity team responsible for stock research, security recommendations, portfolio management and trading activities. Craig joined Aurion Capital in 1998.
Craig began his career in the investment industry working in the finance department of a leading Canadian automotive manufacturer.
Craig holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Bishop’s University and is a CFA Charterholder.
Paul Sandhu has nearly 30 years experience dealing in domestic and international fixed income markets.
Prior to joining Marret, he was responsible for the global distribution of Canadian fixed income and money market products at BMO Capital Markets. Through offices in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, New York, London and Hong Kong, Paul was directly responsible for advising some of the world’s largest fixed income asset managers on portfolio strategy, asset mix, security selection and alpha/beta generation. Paul’s career also included positions with Goldman Sachs and Citibank in Europe, the United States and Canada.
Paul holds a B A (Economics and Political Science) from the University of British Columbia and a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Victoria.
Greg A. TaylorGreg Taylor is a Portfolio Manager with the Equity team responsible for stock research, security recommendations, portfolio management and trading activities. Greg joined Aurion Capital in 1999.
Prior to Aurion Capital, Greg began his career in the investment industry as part of the acquisition and disposition team of one of Canada’s largest real estate offices and retail property managers.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Bishop’s University and is a CFA Charterholder.
