One of your biggest considerations when determining your child's post-secondary education path is who will pay for it and how. In addition to using parent and student savings, Registered Education Savings Plans and student loans, students can also access numerous scholarships and bursaries.
There are thousands of scholarships available in Canada each year awarding students millions of dollars to help fund their educations. So how do you track down those scholarships? Simply go to one of the many sources for these awards including www.studentawards.com, www.scholarshipscanada.com, www.studentscholarships.org or the Association of Universities and Colleges Canada (www.aucc.ca). Each University or College usually has a scholarship office as well. Whiles some scholarships are based on academic marks, others are based on community involvement or other criteria.
Work with your financial advisor to develop a plan to cover the costs of post-secondary education.
